Endovascular Treatment of Proximal Venous Obstructive Disease
Currently, so-called “compression syndromes”—which have been underdiagnosed in the abdominal-pelvic region until now—such as Nutcracker Syndrome and May-Thurner Syndrome, are gaining significant attention. Although they are often viewed by society as minor conditions, they significantly impair patients’ quality of life.

Our department performs a A thorough evaluation when these syndromes are suspected during a clinic visit, taking into account current diagnostic options and minimally invasive treatments for them, using endovascular techniques (IVUS—intravascular ultrasound with stent implantation), thereby restoring patients' quality of life.
- A personalized, patient-centered approach
On the other hand, in this same area, we see post-thrombotic syndromes, which develop following an episode of deep vein thrombosis and result in highly debilitating symptoms in the lower extremities. We evaluate these conditions and offer the best and most up-to-date treatment to alleviate symptoms.
- May-Thurner Syndrome Venous compression syndrome primarily affecting the left lower limb. We performed an evaluation and treatment using a stent.
- Nutcracker Syndrome Venous compression of the left renal vein, causing lumbar and pelvic symptoms. We performed the diagnostic workup, and the condition was treated with endovascular surgery.
- Other Compressive Conditions We also specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of venous compression syndromes in the arm (thoracic outlet syndrome) or leg (popliteal entrapment) and perform the necessary surgery.
- Post-thrombotic syndrome It is possible to improve these symptoms, which in the past had no solution. At our clinic, we are committed to conducting a thorough evaluation of your condition and working to improve it
